Flying the L2 Pro
The Lixel L2 Pro mounts to the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and Matrice 350 RTK with the optional XGRIDS drone mounting kit. It is not compatible with the Matrice 400 series. Here is what the aerial configuration actually involves — the kit, the flight envelope, and the processing path.
What the kit is
The drone mounting kit is a bracket plus a gimbal adapter that seats the L2 Pro under a DJI Matrice 300 RTK or Matrice 350 RTK. The scanner itself is unchanged — 1.7 kg without battery, industrial aluminium casing, IP54, Class 1 905 nm eye-safe laser. The same unit comes off the aircraft and goes straight onto the 2 m pole or the vehicle mount for the ground pass.
Flight envelope
Fly the L2 Pro at 3 m/s at 30 m AGL. The maximum is 5 m/s at 50 m. Plan corridor and area missions around the 3 m/s / 30 m figure and treat the 5 m/s / 50 m case as the ceiling rather than the target — pushing past it thins point spacing and degrades the SLAM solution. A 15-second static initialisation on a flat surface is mandatory before every scan, airborne or not.
GNSS in the air
Three GNSS modes: RTK for real-time correction, PPK for post-processed work with no live link, and DJI mode, which takes the correction from the aircraft's own RTK. Accuracy is 3 cm absolute H/V RMSE with RTK and 1 cm relative RMSE once post-processed. Output georeferences to WGS84, CGCS2000 or ITRF2008.
Processing path
Drone data needs LixelStudio v3.3 or later, with LixelGO v1.3.0 or later on the phone. The .las written in flight is downsampled — full resolution comes only from LixelStudio post-processing, and so does the 1 cm relative figure. LixelStudio is a free permanent licence, no subscription, and the data is 100% yours.
What you get back
Up to 1 million points per square metre, with cloud thickness of 0.5 cm within 10 m of the trajectory. The 360° × 270° field of view and dual 48 MP cameras mean the aerial pass returns coloured point cloud, not bare geometry — which is what makes the aerial and ground datasets merge cleanly instead of sitting in two different colour spaces.
Limits worth knowing first
Battery runtime is about 1.5 hours, so plan swaps into the mission. RTK works outdoors only. The scanner must travel more than 10 m with an RTK fix for LixelStudio to process the job. And IP54 means dust and splash, not rain — this is not a wet-weather payload.
One sensor, three mounts — why that matters on a corridor job
The usual way to cover a corridor is a dedicated aerial LiDAR payload for the flight and a separate handheld for everything under canopy, at the abutments and inside structures — two sensors, two calibrations, two point clouds to reconcile. The L2 Pro flies the corridor, then comes off the aircraft and walks the parts the aircraft cannot see, producing one dataset from one sensor in one coordinate frame. AECT Solutions supplies, supports and trains on the L2 Pro in Australia as XGRIDS' national distributor, and the drone mounting kit is available with every configuration — talk to us about which one fits the job before you buy the airframe.

What You Can Do
The L2 Pro is built for large-scale, high-accuracy capture across the toughest environments.
Mine Site Surveying
High-density aerial capture across open-cut and underground portals. Generate volumetric models, stockpile calculations, and change-detection datasets at scale.
Infrastructure Monitoring
Repeat-capture cadence over bridges, dams, retaining walls, and rail corridors to detect millimetre-level deformation before it becomes a defect.
Corridor Mapping
Efficiently map roads, pipelines, and transmission lines over tens of kilometres in a single session with centimetre-grade accuracy.
Large-Area Topographic Surveys
Capture DSM/DEM datasets across hundreds of hectares for earthworks planning, flood modelling, and environmental baseline studies.

Common Questions, Answered
What is the XGRIDS Lixel L2 Pro?
The Lixel L2 Pro is XGRIDS' enterprise 32-line SLAM LiDAR scanner: 320K–640K points/sec, 0.5–300 m range, ±1 cm relative accuracy (±3 cm absolute with RTK), 360° panoramic FOV, dual 48 MP cameras, IP54 rating and a 1 TB internal SSD, at 1.7 kg. In Australia it is sold and supported by AECT Solutions, the official XGRIDS national distributor.
Can the Lixel L2 Pro be mounted on a drone?
Yes — the L2 Pro is drone-mountable on DJI Matrice series aircraft (M300/M350 RTK), and also operates handheld, on a 2 m extension pole, or vehicle-mounted. One sensor covers aerial and ground capture on the same project.
Which drones is the Lixel L2 Pro compatible with?
The Lixel L2 Pro mounts to the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and the DJI Matrice 350 RTK using the optional XGRIDS drone mounting kit (bracket plus gimbal adapter). It is not compatible with the Matrice 400 series. The same 1.7 kg sensor also runs handheld, on a 2 m extension pole, and vehicle-mounted, so one scanner covers the aerial and the ground pass on the same project.
What flight speed and altitude should the Lixel L2 Pro be flown at?
XGRIDS recommends flying the L2 Pro at 3 m/s at 30 m above ground level. The maximum is 5 m/s at 50 m. Flying faster or higher than that thins the point spacing and degrades the SLAM solution, so plan corridor and area missions around the 3 m/s / 30 m figure and treat 5 m/s / 50 m as the ceiling, not the target.
How is Lixel L2 Pro drone data processed?
Drone-mode data requires LixelStudio v3.3 or later on the desktop, with LixelGO v1.3.0 or later on the mobile side. The real-time .las the scanner writes in flight is downsampled — full-resolution point clouds come only from LixelStudio post-processing, which is also where the 1 cm relative accuracy figure is achieved. LixelStudio ships as a free, permanent licence with no subscription, and the client owns 100% of the data.
How accurate is the Lixel L2 Pro?
±1 cm relative accuracy, and ±3 cm absolute accuracy when paired with its RTK options (Standard and Survey Grade). That is engineering-grade output suitable for volumes, corridors and construction verification.
What file formats does the L2 Pro output?
The scanner records .las point clouds and .jpg panoramas natively; LixelStudio exports .e57, .ply, .obj, .osgb and .dxf, and the LCC platform produces .lcc / .ply / .usd / 3D Tiles photorealistic 3D Gaussian Splatting scenes — feeding standard pipelines into Revit, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Unreal and Omniverse.
What is the Lixel L2 Pro best used for?
Mine-site surveying and stockpile volumes, corridor and large-area topographic mapping, infrastructure monitoring, heritage preservation and construction verification — anywhere you need long range and survey-grade accuracy from a mobile scanner.
How do I buy or rent the L2 Pro in Australia?
Through AECT Solutions — the official XGRIDS national distributor. Three configurations (inc GST): 16-channel / 120 m at AUD $42,199 · 32-channel / 120 m at $61,099 · 32-channel / 300 m at $85,499 — all with onshore support, warranty, operator training and rental options. Contact AECT to match the right configuration and book a demonstration.
