The K2 — Three Pillars
Verbatim from XGRIDS' official launch positioning.
Data Fidelity
Engineering-grade output. Sub-1 cm relative accuracy, ~3 cm absolute with built-in RTK, 0.05° levelling. Vertical stays vertical. Contours stay sharp. Measurement-ready data, not best-effort point clouds.
Scene Versatility
Built for multi-scenario projects — outdoor corridors, indoor facilities, mixed environments, low-feature scenes. Dynamic object removal cleans out passing people and vehicles automatically. One device, every site.
Ecosystem Reach
End-to-end workflow integration. Real-time point cloud, LCC2 photoreal model (90% smaller than open-source 3DGS), structured mesh for BIM. Flows into Revit, Unity, Unreal, ArcGIS, NVIDIA Omniverse via LCC.
Three Breakthroughs in One Walk
Built-in UM980 RTK — no base station, no tether
Full RTK and PPK capability inside the scanner body. Connect to a CORS network, hold a fixed solution, and your point cloud lands georeferenced to ~3 cm absolute. For Australian surveyors and asset owners, that's the difference between "scan data" and "survey-grade evidence".
Real-time colourised point cloud — world first under 1 kg
Three onboard cameras (one front-facing + two fisheye, each 4000 × 3000 px) fuse RGB onto the point cloud as it captures. You see colour in the field, on the device, in the moment — not three hours later in the office. For BIM verification, real estate, and heritage work, real-time colour fundamentally changes what you can promise a client at the end of the walk.
One scan, two outputs — LiDAR + 3DGS via LCC
The K2 is the first scanner where one walk gives you both an engineering-grade LiDAR point cloud and a photoreal 3D Gaussian Splatting model — same dataset, same workflow. Pair with LixelStudio 4.0 (co-launching with K2) and the workflow mantra is real: Capture → Process → Deliver, same day.
One Scan. Every Format You Need.
A single K2 walk-through produces a photorealistic 3DGS model, a clean mesh, and a survey-grade point cloud — ready for measurement, BIM, or browser delivery.

Choose the K2 if you work outdoors or in mixed environments and need RTK absolute positioning out of the box. The K2 is the right starting point for most Australian civil, construction, real estate, and heritage projects — survey-grade georeferencing, real-time colour, and 3DGS output in one sub-1 kg device. Choose the K1 ($14,999) for GPS-denied environments, training, or budget-conscious teams. Choose the L2 Pro for long corridors, mining, or DJI Matrice drone-mount aerial LiDAR.
K2 vs Leica BLK2GO
The BLK2GO has been the default lightweight reality-capture scanner for indoor work in Australia since 2020. It is genuinely good — and there is no published Australian price; C.R. Kennedy, the local Leica dealer, quotes on request. Here's how it lines up.
| XGRIDS Lixel K2 | Leica BLK2GO | |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Under 1 kg | ~1 kg |
| Built-in RTK | Yes (UM980) | No |
| Real-time colourised point cloud | Yes | No |
| Range | 40–70 m | ~25 m practical indoor |
| Point measurement rate | 200,000 pts/sec | 420,000 pts/sec |
| Price (AUD) | $15,999 inc GST | No published AU price — quote-on-request via C.R. Kennedy |
| Best for | Outdoor / mixed / BIM / heritage / 3DGS | Indoor precision capture |
For most Australian civil, construction, infrastructure, real estate, and heritage professionals — those who need a scanner that works outdoors as well as indoors, with absolute georeferencing and no separate base station — the K2 is the better starting point at a fraction of international BLK2GO pricing (published authorised-dealer pricing overseas runs USD $37,500–$58,740; no AUD price is published locally).
Every Australian practice still paying $30K+ a year for a handheld they have to send away for processing before they can show anyone — that's the practice the K2 is built for.
With the K2 you process locally in LixelStudio 4.0 (free, lifetime, unlimited). You 100% own your data. No mandatory cloud. No subscription. No round-trip to a vendor lab. Scan in the morning. Deliver before lunch.
“Tier-1 surveying firms validating it against their Leica RTC360 datasets are seeing the same thing: gold-standard accuracy in a tool under 1 kilogram, at less than a quarter of the price, from just minutes of scanning.”
Six Workflows the K2 Was Built For
Construction Progress Monitoring
Walk a site weekly, scan in the morning, deliver an as-built point cloud and 3DGS model before lunch. Compare against design intent in LixelStudio 4.0 or push to Revit via LCC. Defects caught at the cost of a site visit, not a $300k rework claim.
Infrastructure Corridor Scan
Road, rail, and utility corridors at walking pace with full RTK georeferencing — no surveyor required for milestone capture. Repeatable verification loop, every scan in the same coordinate system as the last.
Heritage Building Capture
Document facades, churches, and listed buildings in a single walk — point cloud for the conservation engineer, 3DGS for the public-facing virtual tour. One capture, two deliverables, archive-ready.
Indoor Facility Mapping
BIM-verify hospitals, factories, warehouses, and data centres with sub-1 cm relative accuracy. Dynamic object removal cleans out staff and forklifts automatically — production-ready point clouds without manual editing.
Mining Stockpile & Volumetrics
Scan stockpiles, pit walls, and ROM pads with built-in RTK — volumetric calculation in LixelStudio 4.0, results within the same shift. Weekly volumes without flying a drone or booking a surveyor.
Real Estate & Property
Capture premium listings as both a measurement-grade point cloud and a 3DGS virtual walkthrough, viewable in any browser. A listing experience the photo-only competition cannot replicate.

Lixel K2 FAQ
What is the XGRIDS Lixel K2?
The XGRIDS Lixel K2 is a lightweight handheld SLAM LiDAR scanner weighing under 1 kg, with a built-in UM980 RTK chipset, a Livox Mid-360 LiDAR module, and three onboard cameras for real-time colourised point cloud capture. It outputs both engineering-grade LiDAR point clouds and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) models via the LCC platform. Global launch: 6 May 2026. AECT is the Official National Distributor in Australia.
How much does the XGRIDS K2 cost in Australia?
The XGRIDS Lixel K2 is priced at AUD $15,999 inc GST (Standard package) or AUD $16,999 inc GST (Scan More package, with extra battery for full-day capture) through AECT Solutions. Both packages include a LixelStudio 4.0 licence, LCC platform access, onboarding, and a 12-month warranty. Rental is also available. The K1 is repositioned at AUD $14,999 inc GST as the entry tier.
How does the K2 compare to the Leica BLK2GO?
The K2 and the BLK2GO weigh roughly the same (~1 kg) but differ on several key points. The K2 has built-in RTK; the BLK2GO does not (Leica's documented georeferencing path is control points or a paired GNSS smart antenna). The K2 captures real-time colourised point cloud; the BLK2GO does not. The K2 range is 40–70 m versus around 25 m practical for the BLK2GO — though the BLK2GO measures faster at 420,000 points/sec against the K2's 200,000 points/sec. The K2 is AUD $15,999 inc GST; the BLK2GO has no published Australian price (C.R. Kennedy, the Australian Leica dealer, is quote-on-request), with international authorised-dealer pricing in the USD $37,500–$58,740 range. For outdoor, mixed-environment, or RTK-required workflows the K2 is the better starting point.
Does the XGRIDS K2 have built-in RTK?
Yes. The K2 has a built-in UM980 RTK chipset and supports both RTK and PPK GNSS modes. No external base station or tethered receiver is required — the K2 connects to a CORS network or local base, holds an RTK fixed solution, and outputs point clouds georeferenced to absolute coordinates at approximately 3 cm RMSE.
Can the K2 produce 3D Gaussian Splatting output?
Yes. The K2 produces 3DGS output via the LCC (Lixel CyberColor) platform. The same scan dataset can be processed into both an engineering-grade LiDAR point cloud (via LixelStudio 4.0) and a photoreal 3DGS model (via LCC). LCC2 files are typically 90% smaller than open-source 3DGS and integrate with Unity, Unreal Engine, Revit, ArcGIS, and NVIDIA Omniverse.
When is the XGRIDS K2 available in Australia?
The K2 is available now. Global launch was 6 May 2026 and Australian general availability began 16 May 2026 — AECT Solutions stocks the K2 for both purchase and rental, shipped Australia-wide from Queensland.
Can I rent the XGRIDS K2 in Australia?
Yes. AECT offers K2 rental now with daily, weekly, and monthly rates (all inc GST). Every rental includes a LixelStudio 4.0 licence and operator training. The monthly plan includes a rent-to-buy credit toward eventual purchase. Contact AECT for current rates.
Who is the Australian distributor for XGRIDS K2?
AECT Solutions is the official Australian National Distributor for XGRIDS LiDAR systems. Proudly Australian-owned and operated, Queensland-based, led by Jacob Lee — CASA Remote Operator Certificate (ReOC) holder and ISO 9001/14001/45001 Lead Auditor. All K2 sales, rentals, training, warranty, and onshore data processing in Australia run through AECT.
What is the difference between the XGRIDS K2 and K1?
The K2 is the engineering-grade tier: under 1 kg with a built-in UM980 RTK chipset for in-field georeferencing (no base station), ~1 cm relative accuracy, three onboard cameras for real-time 360° colourisation, and dual output (engineering point cloud + 3DGS). The K1 is the entry tier — 200K pts/sec, 0.1–40 m range, no built-in RTK — ideal for GPS-denied indoor, underground and training use. Many teams run a K1 for interiors and a K2 as the site workhorse.
What software is included with the XGRIDS K2?
Every K2 purchased through AECT includes 3 × LixelStudio licences (permanent) for point-cloud processing plus an LCC Basic licence (single scene) for 3D Gaussian Splatting reconstruction — the same bundle as the K1 and L2 Pro. Upgraded LCC tiers for multi-scene publishing are available through AECT.
Does the K2 work indoors or without GPS?
Yes. The K2 uses multi-SLAM spatial perception, so it keeps tracking through GPS-denied environments — basements, stairwells, tunnels, plant rooms — and handles indoor-to-outdoor transitions without breaking the scan. The built-in RTK georeferences the outdoor portions; SLAM carries the indoor portions in the same dataset.
Where is XGRIDS K2 scan data processed? Is it kept in Australia?
All AECT capture and processing runs onshore in Queensland, Australia — full data sovereignty. Nothing needs to leave the country: LixelStudio and LCC processing run locally, and air-gapped delivery is available for government, defence and law-enforcement projects.
Does AECT provide K2 training and local support?
Yes. AECT provides Australian onboarding with every K2 (device setup, first-scan workflow, LixelStudio + LCC processing), local warranty handling as the national distributor, and hands-on training up to the multi-day 3DGS Masterclass — capture, process and publish on real sites with real equipment.
